2 Things I’ve Learned from Fasting 1 Day a Week for the Past 4 Years
1. At ~24-48 hours of fasting the body enters autophagy. This causes the body’s cells to clean out and recycle any unnecessary or damaged parts. Essentially, you are cleaning out your body on a microscopic level. After all, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
2. I’ve actually noticed that once you get past the ~18 hour mark where you may have low energy and be unusually cranky, you get an immense surge of energy If you extend this fast past 24 hours.
I use fasting as a weekly practice to reset my body, clean out the old, and welcome in the new.
